MercyOne wanted to breathe new life into their aged main entry and commissioned Accord Architecture to accomplish this goal. This 4,600 square foot project includes a freshly renovated coffee shop and ordering area, multiple waiting areas, and a new welcome desk. A touch of wood brings warmth to an largely brick and stone environment, along with a fireplace element. Backlit wood panels can change color throughout the day, thereby adding warmth and modern chromotherapy benefits.
Part of Accord’s work in this project was to provide a sun study using time-lapse virtual reality to determine how the sun might glare through the windows and in the eyes of volunteers that were working at the welcome desk.
